Why the 1-year chart peaks in late January 2026: global silver hit a record of about $121 an ounce on 29 January 2026 and fell sharply the next day. Indian prices followed (MCX silver futures touched ₹4,20,048 per kg). Bhavflow’s chart uses one rate per day, excluding GST, so its peak sits slightly below those intraday highs.
Bhavflow takes the international spot price of silver (XAG) in US dollars, converts it to rupees at the day’s USD–INR rate, and adds Indian import duty and an estimated domestic market premium calibrated to IBJA benchmark rates. The duty and premium used today are explained in How we calculate.

Silver is a smaller market and a large share of its demand is industrial (electronics, solar panels), so its price usually swings more in percentage terms than gold. India also imports most of its silver, so the rupee matters too.
999 (fine silver) is 99.9% pure and is used for bars, coins and many puja articles. 925 (sterling silver) is 92.5% silver mixed with copper for strength and is common in jewellery. The metal in a 925 piece is worth roughly 92.5% of the fine-silver rate, before making charges.
No, it is voluntary. BIS introduced HUID-based hallmarking for silver jewellery and articles from 1 September 2025 (IS 2112:2025). A hallmarked piece carries the BIS mark, the word SILVER, its purity grade and a 6-digit HUID that you can verify in the BIS CARE app.
