Bhavflow publishes one national indicative rate. A Surat jeweller’s board rate can be slightly higher or lower because of local association or bullion-dealer rates, transport and insurance costs, and the shop’s own margin; making charges and 3% GST come on top.
Diamond jewellery is usually set in 18K (750) or 14K (585) gold. The gold is priced at the rate for that purity by net weight, and diamonds are priced separately by carat, colour and clarity.
Ask for a diamond grading certificate for larger stones, and check that the gold part carries a BIS hallmark with HUID.
Surat is best known as the world’s diamond-cutting capital: most of the world’s diamonds are cut and polished here, in hubs such as Varachha and Mahidharpura, and the city is home to the Surat Diamond Bourse. Its gold jewellery market is busy, especially for diamond-studded pieces.
Surat is the world’s diamond-cutting capital: most of the world’s diamonds are cut and polished here, in hubs such as Varachha and Mahidharpura, and the city is home to the Surat Diamond Bourse. Its gold jewellery trade leans towards diamond-studded pieces, with showrooms of national and Gujarat-based chains across the city.
BIS-recognised Assaying & Hallmarking Centres operate in Surat. The gold in a diamond piece should still carry a BIS hallmark with its purity (often 18K750) and a 6-digit alphanumeric HUID, which you can verify in the BIS CARE app. Any recognised centre will also test a consumer’s jewellery for a fee.
Pushya Nakshatra and Dhanteras before Diwali are the main gold-buying days, followed by Akshaya Tritiya and the wedding season. Many buyers pick coins or small pieces for the muhurat.
Diamond jewellery is usually set in 18K or 14K gold, so check that the gold is charged at that purity’s rate and by net weight. Diamonds are priced separately by carat, colour and clarity: ask for a grading certificate for larger stones, add 3% GST, and confirm the buyback terms for the gold and the diamonds separately.

18K gold is harder than 22K, so it holds stones more securely. Expect the gold in a diamond piece to be priced at the 18K rate (shown on this page), not the 22K rate.
Almost. GST is the same across Gujarat and India; any difference comes from local premiums and shop margins.
Usually in two parts: the gold, at that day’s rate for its purity minus the jeweller’s deduction, and the diamonds, under the jeweller’s own buyback policy (often only for stones with the shop’s or a lab’s certificate). Ask for the buyback terms in writing when you buy.
Sone ka bhav aaj, today’s gold rate, is at the top of this page: Bhavflow’s national indicative rate for 22K, 24K and 18K gold per 10 grams and per gram, and chandi ka bhav aaj ka (today’s silver rate) per kg, all excluding GST and making charges. The IBJA benchmark (AM and PM) is shown next to it for comparison.
No. Bhavflow publishes one national indicative rate, calculated from international prices, and shows it on every city page. Jewellers in Surat may quote slightly different rates because of local association or bullion-dealer rates, transport and insurance costs and their own margins, and they add making charges and 3% GST.
