Why prices in Bhopal can differ

Bhavflow publishes one national indicative rate. A Bhopal jeweller’s board rate can be slightly higher or lower because of local association or bullion-dealer rates, transport and insurance costs, and the shop’s own margin; making charges and 3% GST come on top.

Like most of North and Central India, Bhopal jewellers usually quote 24K and 22K per 10 grams. The gap between a shop’s board rate and the national rate comes from the day’s local premium, transport and insurance, and the shop’s margin.

Where to buy gold in Bhopal

Bhopal’s traditional jewellery shops are in the old city around Chowk Bazaar, near the Jama Masjid, where lanes of jewellers sit alongside cloth and zari-batua sellers. New Market in T. T. Nagar and the newer residential areas have many modern showrooms.

Chowk Bazaar (old city)
The historic market of old Bhopal, with long-established family jewellers and silversmiths.
New Market and M. P. Nagar
Central shopping areas with branches of national chains and larger showrooms.

Before you buy: hallmark, HUID and making charges

  • Check the BIS hallmark on every piece: the BIS logo, the purity grade (for example 22K916 or 18K750) and a 6-digit HUID. Since 1 April 2023, registered jewellers may only sell hallmarked gold jewellery that carries a HUID (small items under 2 g and kundan, polki and jadau pieces are exempt).
  • Verify the HUID in the BIS CARE app (Verify HUID): it shows the purity, the type of article and the jeweller’s registration, which should match your bill.
  • Making charges vary widely. As general guidance, machine-made chains and plain bangles are often in the range of about 3–10% of the gold value, while handcrafted, temple, antique or filigree work commonly runs 12–25% or more; some jewellers charge a flat amount per gram instead. Ask for the charge in writing and compare shops.
  • 3% GST is charged on the jewellery bill. Ask for a GST invoice that lists net weight, purity, rate per gram, making charges, HUID and tax separately.
  • Ask about buyback and exchange terms before you buy: most jewellers pay the day’s rate for the tested purity minus a deduction.

Gold rate in Bhopal: FAQ

Is the gold rate in Bhopal the same as in Indore?

Usually very close: same market, same 3% GST. Indore’s Sarafa is the bigger bullion market in Madhya Pradesh, but for jewellery the main difference between shops is the making charge.

What does a jeweller deduct when I exchange old gold?

Most test the purity, value the gold at that day’s rate for that purity and then deduct a percentage. The deduction varies by shop, so ask for weight, purity and deduction on the bill.

Bhopal mein sone ka bhav aaj kya hai? (gold rate today in Bhopal)

Sone ka bhav aaj, today’s gold rate, is at the top of this page: Bhavflow’s national indicative rate for 22K, 24K and 18K gold per 10 grams and per gram, and chandi ka bhav aaj ka (today’s silver rate) per kg, all excluding GST and making charges. The IBJA benchmark (AM and PM) is shown next to it for comparison.

Does Bhavflow show a Bhopal-specific gold rate?

No. Bhavflow publishes one national indicative rate, calculated from international prices, and shows it on every city page. Jewellers in Bhopal may quote slightly different rates because of local association or bullion-dealer rates, transport and insurance costs and their own margins, and they add making charges and 3% GST.
