Chandi ka bhav Ahmedabad mein: demand for silver coins and utensils jumps on Dhanteras and Pushya Nakshatra, and some shops in Manek Chowk and on C. G. Road take advance bookings. If you book ahead, ask in writing which day's rate applies, the rate on booking or on delivery, and whether the coin premium is fixed.
In Ahmedabad, silver coins and utensils are bought on Dhanteras and Pushya Nakshatra along with gold, and silver anklets and toe rings are everyday jewellery. The old-city jewellers of Manek Chowk and the showrooms on C. G. Road sell coins, utensils and 925 jewellery.
Silver coins sold for festivals are usually 999 and priced at the day’s rate plus a small premium; jewellery is priced per gram with a making charge. Compare the buy-back terms before buying for investment.
It depends on the shop: some fix the rate on the booking day, others charge the rate on the day you collect. Ask for it in writing with the coin premium and making charge.
Coins and bars (999) carry lower charges and are easier to sell back near the metal rate. Jewellery has making charges and 3% GST that you usually do not get back when you sell.
Usually very close: GST is 3% everywhere, and gaps come from transport, insurance and each dealer’s margin.
