Why prices in Visakhapatnam can differ

Bhavflow publishes one national indicative rate. A Visakhapatnam jeweller’s board rate can be slightly higher or lower because of local association or bullion-dealer rates, transport and insurance costs, and the shop’s own margin; making charges and 3% GST come on top.

As in Hyderabad and the rest of Andhra Pradesh, gold coins and jewellery are bought for Varalakshmi Vratam, Akshaya Tritiya, Dasara and the wedding season. Andhra jewellers often quote 22K per gram as well as per 10 grams.

Where to buy gold in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam (Vizag), Andhra Pradesh’s largest city, has its main jewellery shopping around Jagadamba Junction and Dwaraka Nagar, with large showrooms of South Indian chains along the main roads and older jewellers in the One Town area near the harbour.

Jagadamba Junction and Dwaraka Nagar
The city’s main shopping districts, with many jewellery showrooms close together.
One Town (old city)
Older family jewellers near the port and the old market areas.

Before you buy: hallmark, HUID and making charges

  • Check the BIS hallmark on every piece: the BIS logo, the purity grade (for example 22K916 or 18K750) and a 6-digit HUID. Since 1 April 2023, registered jewellers may only sell hallmarked gold jewellery that carries a HUID (small items under 2 g and kundan, polki and jadau pieces are exempt).
  • Verify the HUID in the BIS CARE app (Verify HUID): it shows the purity, the type of article and the jeweller’s registration, which should match your bill.
  • Making charges vary widely. As general guidance, machine-made chains and plain bangles are often in the range of about 3–10% of the gold value, while handcrafted, temple, antique or filigree work commonly runs 12–25% or more; some jewellers charge a flat amount per gram instead. Ask for the charge in writing and compare shops.
  • 3% GST is charged on the jewellery bill. Ask for a GST invoice that lists net weight, purity, rate per gram, making charges, HUID and tax separately.
  • Ask about buyback and exchange terms before you buy: most jewellers pay the day’s rate for the tested purity minus a deduction.

Gold rate in Visakhapatnam: FAQ

Is the gold rate in Visakhapatnam the same as in Hyderabad?

Usually very close: GST is the same 3% everywhere, and differences come from local premiums, transport and the shop’s margin. Compare making charges and buy-back terms.

What should I check when buying gold coins for a festival?

Purity (24K 999 or 22K 916), weight, the BIS hallmark with HUID where applicable, tamper-proof packing and a GST invoice. Coins usually carry a small premium over the gold rate.

Visakhapatnam mein sone ka bhav aaj kya hai? (gold rate today in Visakhapatnam)

Sone ka bhav aaj, today’s gold rate, is at the top of this page: Bhavflow’s national indicative rate for 22K, 24K and 18K gold per 10 grams and per gram, and chandi ka bhav aaj ka (today’s silver rate) per kg, all excluding GST and making charges. The IBJA benchmark (AM and PM) is shown next to it for comparison.

Does Bhavflow show a Visakhapatnam-specific gold rate?

No. Bhavflow publishes one national indicative rate, calculated from international prices, and shows it on every city page. Jewellers in Visakhapatnam may quote slightly different rates because of local association or bullion-dealer rates, transport and insurance costs and their own margins, and they add making charges and 3% GST.
