Bhavflow publishes one national indicative rate. A Indore jeweller’s board rate can be slightly higher or lower because of local association or bullion-dealer rates, transport and insurance costs, and the shop’s own margin; making charges and 3% GST come on top.
Many karigars in Indore’s jewellery workshops come from West Bengal, and much of what is sold in Sarafa is made locally to order.
Silver jewellery and articles are a big part of Indore’s trade; see the silver rate page for today’s silver price.
Indore’s Sarafa Bazaar, close to Rajwada, dates back to the Holkar era. It is a jewellery market by day and turns into the city’s famous night-time food street after the shops close.
Indore’s Sarafa Bazaar near Rajwada dates back to the Holkar era. Generations-old family shops sell gold and silver jewellery by day, and the street turns into the city’s famous night-time food market after they close. M. G. Road has showrooms of national chains, and much of what Sarafa sells is made locally to order.
BIS-recognised Assaying & Hallmarking Centres operate in Indore, including in the Sarafa area. Every hallmarked piece should show the BIS logo, its purity and a 6-digit alphanumeric HUID, which you can verify in the BIS CARE app. Any recognised centre will also test a consumer’s jewellery for a fee and issue a report.
Pushya Nakshatra before Diwali is one of the busiest gold-buying days in Indore, along with Dhanteras, Akshaya Tritiya and the wedding season. Silver coins and utensils sell heavily at Dhanteras.
When you have a piece made to order, agree on the purity, the expected weight and the making charges in writing, and ask for the finished piece to be hallmarked with a HUID. Visit Sarafa in the daytime, add 3% GST to the total, keep the GST invoice, and check the buyback terms before you pay.

Jewellery shops trade during the day. In the evening, once they close, the street turns into a food market, so visit in daytime to shop for gold or silver.
Very close. Local association rates and shop margins can differ slightly; GST is the same 3% everywhere.
