Why prices in Agra can differ

Bhavflow publishes one national indicative rate. A Agra jeweller’s board rate can be slightly higher or lower because of local association or bullion-dealer rates, transport and insurance costs, and the shop’s own margin; making charges and 3% GST come on top.

As a tourist city, Agra has many shops aimed at visitors; for gold, buy only hallmarked pieces with a HUID and a GST invoice, and check the weight on the shop’s scale.

Where to buy gold in Agra

Agra’s traditional jewellery and wedding market is Kinari Bazaar near the Jama Masjid in the old city, a crowded maze of shops selling jewellery, trimmings and wedding wear. Sadar Bazaar and the newer areas have more modern showrooms.

Kinari Bazaar
The old-city wedding market near the Jama Masjid, with many small jewellers; compare making charges and insist on a hallmark.
Sadar Bazaar and newer areas
Modern showrooms and national chains.

Before you buy: hallmark, HUID and making charges

  • Check the BIS hallmark on every piece: the BIS logo, the purity grade (for example 22K916 or 18K750) and a 6-digit HUID. Since 1 April 2023, registered jewellers may only sell hallmarked gold jewellery that carries a HUID (small items under 2 g and kundan, polki and jadau pieces are exempt).
  • Verify the HUID in the BIS CARE app (Verify HUID): it shows the purity, the type of article and the jeweller’s registration, which should match your bill.
  • Making charges vary widely. As general guidance, machine-made chains and plain bangles are often in the range of about 3–10% of the gold value, while handcrafted, temple, antique or filigree work commonly runs 12–25% or more; some jewellers charge a flat amount per gram instead. Ask for the charge in writing and compare shops.
  • 3% GST is charged on the jewellery bill. Ask for a GST invoice that lists net weight, purity, rate per gram, making charges, HUID and tax separately.
  • Ask about buyback and exchange terms before you buy: most jewellers pay the day’s rate for the tested purity minus a deduction.

Gold rate in Agra: FAQ

Is it safe to buy gold jewellery as a tourist in Agra?

Buy from a BIS-registered jeweller, check the hallmark (BIS logo, purity, HUID), verify the HUID in the BIS CARE app and get a GST invoice with the net weight and making charges.

Is the gold rate in Agra the same as in Delhi?

Usually very close; the national market and 3% GST are the same, and small gaps come from local premiums and shop margins.

Agra mein sone ka bhav aaj kya hai? (gold rate today in Agra)

Sone ka bhav aaj, today’s gold rate, is at the top of this page: Bhavflow’s national indicative rate for 22K, 24K and 18K gold per 10 grams and per gram, and chandi ka bhav aaj ka (today’s silver rate) per kg, all excluding GST and making charges. The IBJA benchmark (AM and PM) is shown next to it for comparison.

Does Bhavflow show a Agra-specific gold rate?

No. Bhavflow publishes one national indicative rate, calculated from international prices, and shows it on every city page. Jewellers in Agra may quote slightly different rates because of local association or bullion-dealer rates, transport and insurance costs and their own margins, and they add making charges and 3% GST.
